With this album, I wanted to explore a different approach. I was always fascinated by one-track long projects, more specifically that of the 35-minute album Long Season by Japanese dream pop band Fishmans and the hip-hop EP Solace by Earl Sweatshirt. Obviously, both examples are different genres to what I make, but still, I wanted to try my hand at making one of these myself.

Here is The Dilation of Time, a one-track 34-minute long album. I used the same technique for Float Upstream; taking a short passage and stretching it out to extend its length far past its original (the piece I used as a base for the title track was originally 12 seconds!), while also making adjustments to the sound as well as adding in additional sounds.

The end result of stretching something so short to something so long has always been a fascinating concept to me. The end result being that the changes in chords, in textures, in timbre change so gradually that they become very subtle. You might not even be able to notice such changes if you're not paying attention.

As such, the best way I recommend you listen to this album is laid down, staring at the ceiling, not focusing on anything else. That's the way I listen to it personally.
